The
Lyceum Tigris
This is the unofficial and "practice" Web Page for the Lyceum Tigris for Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. This page was last updated on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The maintainer of this page is Frigga Halladottir (frigga_of_glennlinn@hotmail.com ). This page is not a corporate publication of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., and does not delineate SCA policies. In cases of conflict with printed versions of material presented on this page or its links, the dispute will be decided in favor of the printed version.
Participation in the Lyceum Tigris, either as a student or as a teacher, is entirely voluntary and free.
Although the Lyceum Tigris will be administered by those who reside in the Northern Region, our aim is to provide incentive for all SCAdians to teach and to learn, while attempting to recreate the experience of educational activities in an actual medieval University.
The Lyceum Tigris will provide a structured system of course offerings from which students may choose a general curriculum or specialize in a specific area of study. It is hoped that those who come to learn may gain the confidence to share their newfound knowledge with others and become part of the Faculty of the Lyceum Tigris, thus perpetuating the cycle of learning and teaching.
Those who have reached levels of accomplishment, whether as scholars or as teachers, will have the opportunity to earn degrees and honorary titles.
The logistical details are still being worked out, but we are not starting from scratch. Many other Kingdoms throughout the Known World, such as An Tir, Calontir, and the Midrealm, among others, have longstanding and successful systems of organized educational opportunities. These established programs will serve as our inspiration, providing us with direction as we adapt the differing formats to the needs of the Northern Region.
If you are intrigued by this idea, we invite you help us in creating this learning institution which will belong to us all.
