This year we will be focusing on the youth, putting them front and center, recognizing their importance to the society and making sure they have plenty of activities to enjoy. Our youth and family activities run over the course of the weekend starting Friday evening and finishing up Sunday. In addition, we will have an established Teen / Tween hall located in the town center where the youth can hang out in the evening, have access to beverages, table space for games and electric outlets to charge their various gizmos.

The Children of Loki Youth should gather in the Assembly Hall to hear a reading of "The Children of Loki" from Neil Gaiman's book on Norse Mythology. This story will provide background information on the Adventure Quest that they can undertake throughout the day on Saturday.

Family Movie Night Join us for pop-corn and a movie double feature in the Assembly Hall as we screen two family friendly Viking films.
Valhalla (1986): This Danish animated film tells the story two children in the Viking age who find themselves spirited away into the world of Norse Mythology through Loki's treachery. While there, they join Loki and Thor as the visit the realm of Utgard Loki, the giant king (G / 1h 16m).

Thyng Quest During the youth pancake breakfast, Lady Eleanor Grey and Lord David Poirier will inform you of the necessary steps for finding the needed materials for the dwarfs to create Gleipnir, the ribbon that bound Fenrir. Each piece of the ribbon will be formed from events that will take the youth to the different areas that make up the SCA (it is mandatory for parent/guardian(s) to attend this meeting).

Thyng Quest - Service: Roots of the Society You will be given time to go out into the site and offer your support and service to anyone who might need them. We will have some suggested options to give you that morning. Acts of service mean extra ammunition in our water balloon fight later in the afternoon!

Norse Field Games Saturday morning the Idavoll Sport Field will have various Norse games available to play including Kubb (pronounced similar to the "oo" in "boob"), a Viking lawn game where the object is to knock over wooden blocks by throwing wooden sticks at them, Toga Honk (tug-of-war) where two people compete to pull each other over, The Leather Game, a kind of four corners tug of war, Give Birth to a bear, where one person tries to wriggle between two others that try to stop them and May I Strike, a blind-mans-bluff pillow where the two participants try to hit each other with a salted fish in a bag while blindfolded and keeping one hand on a chest, and Around the World and Three Legs, two games that test your strength and flexibility while using a staff. Instruction and supervision will be provided.

Frog Clout Come join Lady Saffir Weaver and try your skill at tossing a Frog, Clout style. No real frogs will be used in this activity. Teams of one Adult and one Child will compete to see who the Saffir's Frog Clout Champ is. Child will throw 3 frogs then adult will throw 3 frogs. Three prizes will be awarded for this activity based on team scores (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Awards will be presented at the FFD Awards Ceremony on Sunday at 3pm.

Vikings Storm the Castle Come join Lady Saffir Weaver for the "Vikings storm the castle" mini catapult shoot. Try your skill at shooting mini catapults at various targets. Teams of one Adult and one Child will compete to see who the Champ is. Three prizes will be awarded for this activity based on team scores (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Awards will be presented at the FFD Awards at 3pm.
